Portcoast is honored to receive the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG Award) from Esri at the 2025 Esri Global User Conference in San Diego, USA. This is the second consecutive year that Portcoast has been internationally recognized with this prestigious award. The SAG Award is a testament to Portcoast’s outstanding capabilities in applying GIS technology in engineering consultancy, infrastructure management, and port-maritime development within the global ArcGIS user community. It also reaffirms Portcoast’s pioneering role in digital transformation and the sustainable development of Vietnam’s construction industry.

The GIS Special Achievement Award (SAG Award) 2025 was presented at the 2025 Esri User Conference, organized by Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc.) in mid-July in San Diego, USA. The award was selected from hundreds of thousands of organizations around the world.

The achievements of two Vietnamese enterprises are not only technological milestones but also affirm the capabilities and pioneering roles of these businesses in implementing national development strategies. They also play a key role in realizing the strategic goals of the Party and Government on digital transformation and sustainable urban development.

Specifically, in recent years, Portcoast has collaborated with relevant authorities to effectively apply digital transformation technologies, in alignment with the spirit of various resolutions on digital transformation and innovation, such as Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Planning, building, managing, and sustainably developing urban areas in Vietnam" and Government Resolution No. 148/NQ-CP, which emphasizes the requirement to "build a national database system for urban planning; widely apply GIS and digital technologies".

Portcoast is a private company operating primarily in the fields of port, maritime, and inland waterway consultancy. In recent years, Portcoast has been recognized as a leading company in infrastructure digital transformation. Its capabilities are demonstrated in two key application areas: urban infrastructure and marine economy. In terms of urban infrastructure, the digitization of major transportation works through the creation of accurate 1:1 "Digital Twins" provides major cities with tools for smart urban management. This model helps optimize operation and maintenance and serves as a foundational database for urban planning aligned with Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) strategies.

In the field of marine economy, projects to build digital twins for strategic seaport systems demonstrate Portcoast’s vision. The integration of topographic, hydrological, and infrastructure data into a unified GIS platform helps optimize vessel coordination, channel management, and scenario simulation, enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam’s international trade gateways.

Another enterprise from Vietnam also honored at this year’s award ceremony was Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), for its application of geographic information systems (GIS) in the water industry, focusing on asset management and leak detection.

SAWACO has improved infrastructure monitoring and management by using GIS, enabling real-time leak detection, resource optimization, and enhanced system performance. This has resulted in a reliable water supply, reduced water loss, cost savings, and improved operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Headquartered in the United States, Esri is a multinational company and the global leader in GIS software, location intelligence, and mapping. Esri currently has 49 offices worldwide, including 11 research and development centers, with a total workforce of over 6,000 employees from 73 countries.
