During the business trip to Hong Kong (China) on August 12-13, the delegation from Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, led by Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, met with Hutchison Group, the Hong Kong Shippers' Council, ZIM Shipping Company, and surveyed the ATL/DP World logistics center.

The meetings were also attended by the Commercial Consul of Vietnam in Hong Kong (China).

Hutchison Group is one of the leading global port networks and the largest container terminal operator in Hong Kong. In Vietnam, Hutchison Group is also the investor and operator of Saigon International Terminals Vietnam (SITV).

During the meeting, Hutchison Group discussed the establishment of an alliance of container terminals in Hong Kong. This has facilitated smoother and more efficient cargo transportation between terminals. More importantly, the coordination between the terminals has helped shipping lines save on costs and time. Hutchison Group also introduced the delegation to the Group's sustainable development roadmap and the automation model in port operations.

At the meeting with the Hong Kong Shippers' Council, a socio-political organization for freight, transport, and import-export under the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China), Vice Chairman Le Ngoc Khanh shared the potentials, strengths, and development orientations of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh also emphasized that the province ranked 6th in the 2023 Provincial Competitiveness Index. Therefore, the province hopes that the Council will arrange for a delegation to visit and explore the investment environment of the province.

At the headquarters of ZIM Shipping, one of the world's top 10 shipping lines operating services in the Cai Mep-Thi Vai deep-water port area, the delegation introduced the advantages and development orientations of the Cai Mep-Thi Vai deep-water port system with its function as a national gateway port and international transshipment hub.

On behalf of the company, Mrs. Hani Kalinski, Vice President in charge of the Asia-Pacific region, and Mr. Atul Dutt, Chief Commercial Officer, highly appreciated the development potential of the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port complex. The company stated that its cargo volume through the Cai Mep-Thi Vai area has increased fivefold since 2020. Additionally, ZIM Shipping has officially chosen Cai Mep-Thi Vai as its transshipment hub in Southeast Asia starting in 2024.

During discussions with ZIM Shipping, the delegation provided detailed information on the advantages and challenges in operating service routes in the Cai Mep-Thi Vai deep-water port area and the prospects for future cooperation.

Following that, the delegation worked and surveyed the ATL logistics center, invested and operated by DP World Group. This is the world's largest multi-story logistics center located right behind the port. Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh affirmed that Ba Ria-Vung Tau province will create all favorable conditions for DP World Group to research and invest in a logistics center in the province.
