On the evening of December 31st, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport announced the top 10 notable events in the city's transportation sector in 2023. These included the Cần Giờ Port, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, and several other important projects mentioned in the list.

Specifically, the 10 events include:

1. The Prime Minister conducted inspections, examinations, and provided directives to accelerate the progress of key strategic transportation projects. Notable projects and initiatives in this regard include the Can Gio International Transshipment Port Project, Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), and the An Phu Interchange.

2. Advising on the submission of authority to issue critical strategies, policies, and tasks related to the development of the transportation sector in Ho Chi Minh City.

3. Commencing the implementation of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project.

4. Completion and putting into use various transportation infrastructure projects, addressing traffic congestion in a timely manner, and contributing to the socio-economic development.

5. Proposing investments and submitting them to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for approval of the investment direction for important transportation projects.

6. Enhancing cooperation in developing regional transportation connectivity and promoting collaboration in scientific research and professional training.

7. Traffic accidents within the city have significantly decreased across all three criteria.

8. Revenue exceeded the target for infrastructure usage fees and public utility facilities within the seaport customs area.

9. Issuing regulations on the temporary management and use of a portion of road lanes and sidewalks within the city.

10. A breakthrough in the application to enhance public administrative services and digital transformation.

Earlier, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the establishment of the Department (November 5, 1975 - November 5, 2023), the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport affirmed: "Currently, the transportation sector in Ho Chi Minh City has numerous large projects and initiatives, as well as new mechanisms. Therefore, our responsibilities and challenges have increased, but the achievements and honors will be even greater when we all strive together."

Looking back at the achievements of the past year, many people have come to understand the clear development of Ho Chi Minh City's transportation sector despite the increasing challenges and responsibilities.

Firstly, we can mention the highly anticipated mega-project - Ring Road 3. The project officially commenced construction in mid-June 2023, enhancing connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and the neighboring provinces of Đồng Nai, Bình Dương, Long An, and other nearby provinces. This is considered a flagship project for the city, showcasing innovative approaches and ensuring improved quality of life for residents in the new areas.

From the inception of Ring Road 3 to the An Phu Interchange, National Highway 50, and beyond, the next important projects include Ring Road 4, completing Ring Road 2, the Can Gio Bridge, the Thu Thiem Bridge 4, and the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, all of which are currently undergoing accelerated procedures and will soon commence construction.

Furthermore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, along with relevant agencies, has completed the plan for the construction of the Can Gio International Transshipment Port, which was submitted to the Prime Minister as a draft plan in August 2023. As of now, Ho Chi Minh City is in the process of receiving feedback from various ministries and will subsequently present the official basis for further implementation steps.
