Portcoast Consultant, a company specializing in port design and marine engineering, utilizes modern technologies to generate a digital representation of all 82 water routes within the city, spanning over 523 km in total length and covering more than 5,500 hectares underwater.

Ho Chi Minh City is aggressively implementing the digitalization of its transportation infrastructure data. This includes a project to survey and collect information on inland waterway traffic, both underwater and on land, to integrate into the online portal of the Department of Transportation and the Ho Chi Minh City Waterway Management Center for information provision and management.

The project, carried out by Portcoast, produces a digital model representing the current state of all 82 waterway routes in the city, with a total length of over 523 km and an underwater area exceeding 5,500 hectares.

Additionally, the consultancy is also surveying the areas along the banks of canals and streams, covering a total area of slopes and riverbanks of over 10,000 hectares, along with 217 bridges and culverts; 200 high/medium/low voltage power lines and 146 inland ports and docks. The company also designs the waterways, buoy and beacon systems according to the planning and current state; and designs typical landscapes along the riverbanks for the 82 canal routes.

A representative from Portcoast also mentioned that the technology and equipment used for the survey are the most modern currently available in the world.
