Ho Chi Minh City accelerates digital transformation in urban management

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong and representatives of departments: Information and Communications, Transport, Construction, Natural Resources and Environment, Urban Railway Management Board... just had a working session with the Portcoast on digital technology and application of technology in infrastructure development.

With the determination to implement digital transformation in urban management, thereby making management and operation more effective, at the meeting, representatives of city departments, agencies, and management boards discussed various issues related to the application of digital technology in urban management. Particularly, restoring data of existing underground infrastructure systems (electricity, water, telecommunications) is crucial for investment in construction and repair in the city's infrastructure projects.

A representative of the Department of Construction shared that they are compiling projects that have been granted construction permits in recent times to build a comprehensive data system for the construction sector. Along with that, they will select several projects to apply technologies such as BIM, Scan to BIM, BIM – GIS, Digital Twin, and XR in project management. The Departments of Transport and Natural Resources and Environment also stated that they are developing their respective sectoral data centers and plan to integrate these with the Department of Construction's data to unify the urban management database.

Mr. Bùi Xuân Cường, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, stated that Ho Chi Minh City will establish a data center, aiming for all construction projects to be licensed on the digital platform. In this spirit, Mr. Bùi Xuân Cường highly appreciated pioneering enterprises in digital transformation such as Portcoast. The participation and contributions of businesses with modern technology and equipment will help the city accelerate the digital transformation process in infrastructure management.

Mr. Bùi Xuân Cường also suggested that in the coming time, Portcoast should coordinate and support city departments in applying digital technology in managing projects such as Ring Road 3, Metro Line 2, Ho Chi Minh City - Mộc Bài Expressway, Ring Road 4, and more.

Mr. Trần Tấn Phúc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Portcoast, stated that they are ready to accompany departments in digital transformation as required by Ho Chi Minh City.
