"The Construction Industry Career Exploration and Development Fair," organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering in collaboration with Portcoast Consulting and Design Joint Stock Company - Marine Engineering and other businesses, took place on the morning of January 13, 2024. It provided a wealth of useful information for students of the Civil Engineering Faculty in general, and particularly for the class of 2023, before they choose their specialization. The fair attracted the attention of nearly 600 students and a large number of businesses and units in the construction sector.
Dr. Le Hoai Long, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, stated that at the Faculty, except for Architecture, which is admitted under a separate code, all other specializations are admitted under the group of "Civil Engineering." Therefore, after completing the first year, students will proceed to choose their specialization based on their academic performance, experiences, and personal preferences.
The primary goal of this Fair, according to Dr. Long, is to help students gain a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of various fields, the job market, and potential employment opportunities in the construction sector after graduation, in order to make the most suitable decision when choosing their specialization.
At the fair, representatives from various departments within the Faculty of Civil Engineering sequentially shared detailed and practical information about the specializations to guide the students. Additionally, the panel discussion created a lively exchange space among businesses and with students. Numerous questions posed by students, such as 'can someone working in road and bridge construction also work in an office', were answered by businesses based on their experience and from an approachable and easy-to-understand perspective.
Happening concurrently with the panel discussion were exhibition and consultation activities at booths of various departments and businesses. These helped students gain a clearer understanding of the theory and application of each field and profession, as well as the various job positions related to Construction.
Particularly, Portcoast Consulting and Design Joint Stock Company - Marine Engineering brought a variety of top-tier modern equipment and technology for demonstration, allowing students to experience VR virtual reality glasses as well as learn about the major projects that Portcoast has undertaken,...
