Sai Gon Premier Container Terminal Company is a joint-venture between DP World Group (80%) and Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Company (20%). The terminal is located along the western shore of Soai Rap River within Hiep Phuoc Industrial Zone, Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh, with a capacity of 1.5 million TEU per year and operated by DP World Group. During the last 06 weeks, SPCT terminal has accommodated new facilities in service of the operation and currently owned 05 Gantry Cranes (GC) and 13 Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG). Thanks to its nonstop efforts, the access road to the terminal, up to now, has been completed, which creates the favorable conditions for vehicles’ operation in the terminal. For detail, Nguyen Van Tao road, formerly known as a “country lane”, connecting the North – South Avenue with SPCT terminal, has now been finished. Also, Dong Dien new bridge has presently been completed, connecting A, B and C areas in Hiep Phuoc industrial Zone with SPCT terminal, contributing to shortening the transporting time from Nguyen Van Linh Avenue to SPCT terminal down to 30 minutes only. Additionally, a 6-lane Avenue from Hiep Phuoc industrial Zone to SPCT is being built as well. Expectedly, the phase 1 and phase 2 is to be completed by the end of 2009 and 2nd quarter of 2010 respectively. These road lines both will, as connected, increase the competitive advantages of SPCT terminal over the logistics hub in the west of Ho Chi Minh and Mekong Delta. The -9.5m dredging work in Soai Rap channel has been executed to be invited for tender and anticipated to be completed by the 4th quarter of 2010. The fresh navigational channel will help lessen vessels’ operation time and allow vessels with a capacity of up to 5.000 TEU to directly approach the cargo supply in Ho Chi Minh city.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Patrick Bol, the General Director of SPCT says that the completion on schedule of supporting infrastructure and access road to SPCT terminal pleases not only the investors but also SPCT terminal herself. Upon the dredging execution of Soai Rap channel, a bright vista will be open to Hiep Phuoc industrial Zone and SPCT terminal. As with the infrastructure and terminal management procedures in accordance with the international standard, the terminal’s location near the cargo supply will bring the economic benefits to all relevant parties”. Also, Mr Patrick Bol has expressed his genuine thanks to Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, Southern Area Management Board, Nha Be district, Hiep Phuoc industrial Zone, Ministry of Transport, Vietnam Marine Department and Portcoast Consultant Corporation for their strong financial support and assistance as to be able to assign the infrastructure on schedule and allow the terminal’ operation. The official opening ceremony of SPCT terminal is scheduled to be organized by February 2010. Mr LUDOVIC Renou, the General Director of CMA-CGM shipping Agent says that SPCT terminal is a historic milestone in Vietnam’s economic development. As based on the modern facilities and international standard, CMA-CGM will strengthen its services, raise the output in Ho Chi Minh city and provide the investors with the best shipping time.
